La Réserve Genève, A Gorgeous Urban Resort By The Lake

I already had a chance to stay at the gorgeous La Réserve Genève some years ago, and it was absolutely wonderful. I came back there this summer and realized how fantastic it is to have such a great urban resort during current pandemic days. In nature, with lake views and five-star facilities… The perfect destination for an escapade in Switzerland!

La Réserve Genève is a discreet, yet fancy destination just few minutes away by car from Geneva city center. That’s the place to be for locals or tourists looking for high-end hospitality experiences. Indeed, this urban resort proposes to its guests what Switzerland has the best to offer in term of dining, Spa, rooms, lake views… Not to mention a beautiful interior design by the famous Jacques Garcia.

Safari’s Lodge Atmosphere

The resort style of La Réserve Genève is definitely what makes it unique. The overall property is very large and composed of many green areas. Buildings are rather small – only two floors above the ground – and painted in ocher color. It really looks like a private reserve with safari lodges in the middle!

This safari’s lodge feeling is reinforced with the interior design, based on red and dark wood colors with plenty of animal references: statues, contemporary art pieces, etc. Le Loti restaurant actually looks like a tent in the bush, I loved it.

The Junior Suite we had was similar in style: a neo-colonial ambience in red and dark tones with books and art prints about animals. All rooms have a balcony or terrasse, in order to enjoy even more the nature or lake views. An out-of-world place.

Reaching City Center By Motoscafo

What can be a great experience for a resort on lake’s shore? A motoscafo ride of course! La Réserve Genève proposes its own beautiful boat – I wonder if it was a Riva boat? – for round trips to/from city center. Just a 20 minutes ride from the resort’s pier to the Geneva’s left or right bank side on your request.

When you are lucky with a sunny weather, the boat ride is just outstanding. You can admire the stunning blue water colors of the lake and go very near Geneva Water Fountain. Not only convenient, this complimentary service is also absolutely exclusive in the city.

Fine-Dining Experiences

If you are a fine-dining lover, then this is the right place for you. Le Loti restaurant proposes an elevated international food in a recently re-designed dining room by Jacques Garcia. We had the opportunity to enjoy a romantic dinner with lake view there, and it was perfect. I particularly recommend the black cod with miso sauce, that’s a must-try.

The other in-house restaurant is Tsé Fung, the only Michelin-starred established in Switzerland. Chef Frank Xu proposes a Cantonese menu, the occasion to taste Chinese haute gastronomy. We didn’t have a chance to try it, but dishes looked delicious and the 1930’s Shanghai grand palace atmosphere is really astonishing.

Great Place For A Spa Retreat

An escapade in a five-star urban resort can’t be complete without a Spa moment. And La Réserve Genève has an amazing Spa Nescens on the main building basement – no children allowed – with a large indoor pool, hammam, sauna and a large fitness center. Oh, and also a dedicated restaurant serving light and healthy dishes.

The Spa offers massage and treatment by Nescens products, a Swiss brand. I enjoyed it already at the out-of-world La Réserve Paris and that was a delightful discovery! I definitely recommend a 60-min facial treatment for instance in the morning after breakfast or the evening before dinner.

Families with young children will be able to relax at the outdoor pool on the other side of the resort. Sun loungers and private cabanas are available, as well as a snack menu so you can literally spend the day – if sunny – there.

Conclusion

Like many other high-end hotels in Michel Reybier Hospitality portfolio, La Reserve Genève allows its guests to spend a wonderful time and escape from their daily life. Thanks to its magical location on the bank of the lake, it’s certainly one of the best option for a luxury retreat in Geneva. Whatever the duration of your stay, a day at La Réserve is a day in a heavenly garden.
