Bangkok is such a bustling city that it can be sometimes stressful and oppressive; fortunately it exists some oasis of calm and voluptuousness like the Sukhothai Bangkok, which allow to escape from that busy world.
Whatever for leisure or business stay, finding a peaceful and “out-of-the-world” place is not something easy especially in a vibrant emergent capital. This is however what the Sukhothai Bangkok is able to offer: located right in the middle of the financial district, this luxury urban resort proposes a gate to serenity.
Living
Located a hundred meter away from the street, the Sukhothai Bangkok main entrance allows to arrive smoothly by limousine with a total privacy and quietness. once you enter the lobby for check-in, you discover the unique design inspired by 13th century Thai heritage and present throughout the residence.
Indeed, from the exterior buildings are in pure white tone with minimalist Asian touches but from the inside, you can admire a fantastic Ancient Siamese design modernized by a collection of renowned architects, such as Kerry Hill, Edward Tuttle and local Thai designer Pichitra Boonyarataphan. Just stunning!
Not to be missed, the wet area is composed of a gorgeous outdoor pool and the Spa Botanica, which offers a large list of treatment regularly updated. We enjoyed a Sukhothai Signature Massage that mixes traditional Thai and aromatherapy massages; it was surprising and very relaxing.
Accommodation
Without a doubt, the Sukhothai Bangkok worth a visit especially if you stay in one of their suite. Don’t be afraid by the term “suite”, they are still affordable! We had a lovely Executive Suite overlooking the interior garden and its water lily ponds that was really beautiful, following the same traditional Thai design as the rest of the hotel, with lot of wooden furniture.
One of the key aspect of those suites, that make the property unique, is the huge size of the bathroom: something like 30sqm in a very convenient layout with all possible luxury equipment and amenities. Our biggest ever!
Dining
We had a pretty good overview of dining offer at the Sukhothai Bangkok, since we tried international buffet breakfast at Colonnade, Italian lunch at La Scala and dinner via room service.
Food was very good whatever the place, but obviously our preference goes to La Scala, where chef David Tamburini proposes a fine-dining cuisine in a pure traditional Italian way. Brilliant and delicious.
Level of exigency
The hotel’s staff delivers a smart and discreet service, at the image of the residence. Check-in and check-out were fast and efficient, while throughout our visit everyone was proactively anticipating our needs. A special thanks to the pool’s staff who were warm and friendly, they turned our stay from very good to excellent!
Quality of installations and quietness are definitely the key points of the Sukhothai Bangkok

Stay from February 7th to 9th, 2017 – Sponsorized media visit, but this article reflects 100% of my opinion and thoughts.
The Sukhothai Bangkok opened in 1991 and is now composed of 210 room and suites. We stayed in an Executive Suite – around 70sqm large – which public rates start at THB8,500/night.
