Flying with Etihad Airways implies a transfer at Abu Dhabi International airport – the company headquarter – where several business & first class lounges can be used to spend a luxury journey. Among them, we can find the airline’s lounge signature: the Etihad Airways Diamond First Class lounge located at ground floor, straight after security checking.
The lounge itself is a bit small – more than expected – so be aware that during peak time you will have some difficulty to find a seat. Yes, it is surprising for a First Class lounge but don’t forget that Etihad Airways is one of the cheaper company for this cabin, with a very nice onboard service, so it is quite often fully booked. Once this precision made, let’s focus on positive points: Etihad Airways Diamond First Class lounge gives access to its guests to many luxury and complimentary activities such as an a-la-carte restaurant, a cocktail bar, a Six-Senses Spa with 20-minute free massages and a quiet room with private TV screen. We experimented the Spa and the hand massage we had was very relaxing, perfect just before a long-haul flight ; unfortunately we didn’t get any seat to enjoy dinner at restaurant but for sure it looked good.
Then this is it regarding Diamond First Class ground services ; do not expect any boarding or arrival assistance – while gates can be up to a 25-minute walk to the lounge – and you will have to share the queue with Business Class passengers. So to resume : taking Etihad Airways First Class for onboard and cabin services, yes, but for ground ones, NO.
