Shanghai is an amazing city steeped in history with many different districts, plenty of activities and more globally a high propensity to luxury. Indeed we counted dozens of five-star hotels – we chose to stay at Shangri-La Pudong and Mandarin Oriental Shanghai – as well as shopping malls with best fashion brands. If you take into account all green spaces, you can definitely consider Shanghai as the Chinese New York !
Staying in Pudong allows you to see the most modern and – let’s say – western part of the city ; the Mandarin Oriental and the Shangri-La are very close to the river with gorgeous views over the river and the historical district of Shanghai, the Bund. Then of course, Pudong is famous for its Oriental Pearl (the Shanghai iconic tower) and its couple of world tallest towers such as Shanghai Tower or Jin Mao Tower ; the overall has a very serene and soothing atmosphere, paradoxically.
During our business trip we discovered also West Shanghai via some pleasant walks on Nanjing Road – starting from the river where the skyline of Pudong is amazing, by the way – and we visited Jing’an Temple which was suprised us to see so many art pieces in the middle of a common street. Finally we didn’t see more than 20% of what Shanghai has to offer, so for sure we will be back in a near future !
Trip from May 10th to 17th 2014
