Living The Suite Life At Hotel de Crillon

Living The Suite Life At Hotel de Crillon

New Year and cold days are the perfect occasion to pamper in a five-star hotel and enjoy luxury facilities. This is exactly what we did my partner and I, by living the suite life for a few days of staycation at Hotel de Crillon. Let me highlight the several experiences we enjoyed there and what you can do around.

It seems this COVID still has a lot to say to the world, and countries are going back to a lockdown mode. Anyway, France remains accessible for tourists and even locals can benefit from various staycation offers. My partner and I decided to relax for a long week-end in a gorgeous suite at Hotel de Crillon, a legendary Parisian palace we already visited and loved.

We already did many luxury staycations wherever we lived throughout the world. This a concept I highly support, it’s another way of discovering a city and even few kilometers from home, it enables to completely forget the daily grind and remove the stress.

A wonderful écrin de luxe

Back in 2017, Rosewood Hotel group achieved a fantastic 4-year job of renovation. We can actually talk about an “upgrade”, just to mention the brand new indoor pool they build in the basement and the complete design changes.

Lobby

Once you pass the entrance you arrive in a stunning lobby with many art pieces – mostly for sale – everywhere. Interior design is highly chic, based on precious wood, marble and “warm” stone. It gives to the overall the feeling of being in an exclusive place for happy few, away from the crowd. Perfect!

Sense, a Rosewood Spa

The Rosewood Spa is composed of a large indoor pool – paved with golden scales – a sauna & hammam, a fitness studio and treatment cabins. We didn’t enjoy any Spa treatment this time, however we relaxed by the pool for few hours. And thanks to COVID (!), we could privatized the sauna & hammam room for 45 minutes which was super convenient.

The Premier Suite

I booked a Premier Suite for this staycation. It was a large 60 sqm suite on high floor with separate living room, two balconies, dressing room, bathroom and bedroom. We were celebrating a special occasion so the hotel prepared some delicacies and a lovely decoration.

Premier Suite – Living room

The view over Paris rooftops and the Eiffel Tower from balconies was just breathtaking ; I can’t imagine how a tourist would react! I definitely recommend to book a room on high floor there.

Balcony view

There is no “commercial” benefits when staying in a palace suite, contrary to hotel chains like Hilton or Marriott where you can get access to an Executive Lounge for instance. Here, luxury is discreet and service is tailor-made without guests knowing it. This is why your room is always made promptly when you are out, same for turn-down, breakfast served in the living-room, small attentions throughout the stay… Not to mention the guaranteed early check-in and late check-out.

Amazing luxury experiences nearby

Thanks to its ideal location in Paris, the Hotel de Crillon allows to enjoy plenty of cultural or luxurious attractions. We had the opportunity to lunch at L’Oiseau Blanc, Michelin-Star restaurant near the Arc-de-Triomphe, and we visited the recently refurbished Hotel de la Marine just next to the palace.

Michelin-star experience at L’Oiseau Blanc

L’Oiseau Blanc is the Michelin-starred restaurant of Peninsula Paris, a palace hotel near the Arc-de-Triomphe. Located on last floor, with stunning views over Paris thanks to curved glasses.

Sea scallops with truffle

We enjoyed a 3-course lunch there, by Chef David Bizet. I chose the sea scallops marinated with truffle as starter (introduced by two appetizers before), a line-caught whiting with caviar sauce as main dish and a Tahitian vanilla with frosty tobacco leaf for dessert. A true culinary experience!

Visiting L’Hotel de la Marine

The Hôtel de la Marine is an iconic monument on Place de la Concorde and a fine architectural ensemble that Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the king’s chief architect, made in the 18th century. Until 1798, it housed the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne, before becoming the headquarters of France’s navy ministry for over 200 years.

Hotel de la Marine

The visit lasts approximately 2 hours and it really worth it. Especially for the main gallery – like a mini-Versailles – and the outdoor promenade overlooking Place Vendôme. A true Parisian experience !

Hotel de la Marine

Entrance ticket at 17 EUR/pers. Free entry the first Sunday of each month.
