Hôtel de Crillon, Inside The Legendary Parisian Palace

Hôtel de Crillon, Inside The Legendary Parisian Palace

Only a few places worldwide can take pride in being luxury institutions. The legendary Hotel de Crillon, in Paris, is definitely one of them. Re-opened in 2017 after the largest and most expensive renovation period in the industry, the splendor of that grande dame is now back on Place de la Concorde.

Almost three years after its re-opening, I finally found the right occasion to stay at the Hotel de Crillon : my birthday’s celebration. I booked a one-night stay there as a staycation, so my partner and I could enjoy a parenthesis of luxury and indulgence for this special moment.

Bar Les Ambassadeurs

I was of course very curious to discover this iconic place for the first time, see the job done by Artistic Director Aline d’Amman and live the overall Crillon’s experience. And you know what? I have not been disappointed.

Living

Despite the small and hidden entrance, the interior living area is actually pretty huge. It starts with the famous bar Les Ambassadeurs and its impressive painted ceiling, where the Parisian high-society can enjoy evening cocktails and live music. Here the interior design has been refreshed but preserved, very close to its original classical decor.

Lobby area

There is then a large lounging space where you can find concierge desk, luxury shops, a cozy fireplace and some art pieces exhibition – not to mention the Baccarat chandeliers. The atmosphere is definitely chic and contemporary, as well as color tones and furniture. A new turn for that grande dame, and I love it.

Lobby area

Another place I have to highlight is definitely the pool area. A totally new space – previously the hotel didn’t any pool – with an amazing seabed decoration.

Indoor pool

The space is not that large, but the feeling of exclusiveness for guests is present. It consists in a skylight in one of the interior courtyards bringing natural light onto the 17,600 fish-scale mosaic tesserae lining the basin. Magical!

Room

Infortunately we didn’t stay in one of the two suites designed by Karl Lagarfeld himself and facing Place de la Concorde. But still, we had a nice Grand Premier Room on 6th floor – number 611 – with a balcony overlooking Paris skyline and the Eiffel Tower.

Grand Premier Room – Balcony

Despite small, it is charming, under building’s roof frames with a nice contemporary furniture. A soft but elegant decoration. I especially like the minibar corner, very well designed and with a rare selection of alcohol.

Grand Premier Room – Bathroom

The fully furnished bathroom, with its standalone tub and white marble everywhere, is not to be missed. TV in the mirror and exclusive amenities L’Officine Universelle Buly complete this room in the most perfect way.

Dining

During this stay we made the Brasserie d’Aumont our cantine. We went there for breakfast – a nice a-la-carte and buffet breakfast with a dedicated chef – and also for lunch.

The typical Parisian brasserie atmosphere is chic and pleasant, and I really like the open-air seafood bar – they call it “Crudo Bar”. If you go there for lunch or dinner, I highly recommend you to taste their sea urchin starter. A rare but affordable dish.

Service Quality

You will not be surprised if I tell you that service was faultless at Hotel de Crillon. The Palace label is not usurped, our stay was an enchantment first and foremost thanks to the staff. Great butler who prepared our room in a lovely way for my birthday, great spa attendants who maintains the pool side with highest standards and great concierge team.

I have also to mention doormen, who are always prompt to welcome, help and who take care of guests security.
