For my mother’s 60th birthday gift I chose a 2-night stay at the Fouquet’s Paris hotel ; actually it was very difficult for me to make a selection between so many famous 5-star properties in Paris. However without any doubt I made a good choice and I don’t regret it.
Location is perfect, at the corner of Champs-Elysées and George V avenue in the middle of the parisian Gold Triangle, the most luxury place in that capital. Some of rooms have a direct view over the world famous avenue and the Arc de Triomphe. Most of monument are at walking distance, like the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre. For sure, staying here you will feel luxury everywhere thanks to the location and all premium brands – Vuitton, Bulgari, Cartier – which have their flagship nearby.
The hotel itself is really one of the most renown luxury hotel in France where worldwide stars, CEO and Presidents come when they stay in Paris ; lot of TV reports are made there – often for movie promotion – and local tourists like to take pictures in front of the entrance. From the moment you go inside, you understand: splendid furnitures, 5-star materials and staff people that take care of you to check-in smoothly. Then you are accompanied straight to your room – we have been upgraded from Deluxe Room to Junior Suite Champs-Elysées – and they even introduce us their outstanding U-SPA with crystal blue water.
For my mother anniversary they offer a 4-person strawberry cake and a bottle of French Champagne served by waiter ; this is French luxury ! Late check-out were given without any trouble to finish this amazing stay.
The Fouquet’s Paris Barrière – the Barrière’s brand flagship – opened in 2006 is composed of 81 guest rooms and suites. We originally booked a Deluxe – 20 sqm – but were given an upgrade to Junior Suite Champs-Elysées – 40 sqm with views over the avenue – with daily breakfast, unlimited access to the SPA and one 1h treatment/person at 750 EUR/night.
Living
It looks a bit bling-bling from the entrance but once you leave the lobby it feels true luxury everywhere: bar, restaurant, corridors, rooms, SPA… Decorated by Jacques Garcia, the attention to details is very high and contributes to make your stay memorable.
The bar in the interior courtyard as well as the Diane restaurant – 3-star Michelin – and the U-SPA have been minded to represent different atmospheres and to give customers a relax and VIP feeling.
Focus on the U-SPA ; there is a separated entrance for SPA guests only, however you can go directly with your robe from your room if needed. Then inside you have a huge crystal blue heated pool and in a corner an aquatic course with bubble jets. Place is definitely exclusive and attracts many international People.
Room
Thanks to an upgrade we were given a Junior Suite Champs-Elysées with direct views on this famous avenue and balcony. Room is large, immaculate with 5-star furnitures ; we loved the recessed TV !
The bed is amazingly relaxful, I think they put a fit duvet over the mattress that makes it soooo cosy ! Then after a good night the bathroom is the perfect place to pamper yourself with its premium bath products.
To achieve this wonderful description, mini-bar is complimentary for soft drinks and snacks :)
Dining
Wow. Look at pictures to see what is a PER-FECT in-room breakfast ! Plenty of choice, really hot and tasty dishes, fresh juices… The overall served with silverware.
Even the cake they offered for my mother’s birthday was delicious with its Canard-Duchêne Champagne. I have to say that I never experiment so nice in-room service.
Level of exigency
Top notch service, without any doubt. Staff at Reception, Concierge, bar and cleaning service are all well-trained and professional ; unfortunately it becomes rare even in 5-star properties…
We were greeted by the Front Desk Manager who gives us her business card and – more interesting – the upgrade to Junior Suite Champs-Elysées. She took care that this stay was dedicated to my mother’s birthday and arranged a delicious cake with Champagne ; I was not expecting so much and I liked it !
Therapists of U-SPA were very polite but a bit rude ; however the 1-hour treatment was pleasant.
Stay from July 13th to 15th 2010
