Find a luxury Spa in Paris is an easy thing, however find a unique and exclusive experience is a hard challenge that only few places in the world are able to meet. The five-star hotel Raffles Paris Royal Monceau is definitely one of them with its amazing Spa “My Blend” by Clarins – designed by Philippe Starck – where a crystal-blue water surrounded by glasses and white tone walls awaits guests in a serene atmosphere.
We enjoyed there the new Clarins signature treatment the “Art of Touch” and we also had a full visit of the property, that’s what we are going to highlight in the next lines.
Living
When you pass through the entrance of Le Royal Monceau, you enter in a world of exclusive luxury and art designed by Philippe Starck in 2010 ; the attention to detail, the decor and furnitures sophistication are – honestly – outstanding. But my own words are not enough to describe Le Royal Monceau feeling, I prefer to transcribe that great designer’s speech :
“Le Royal Monceau has nothing to do with the architecture or the decoration, it has to do with an exploration. The exploration of what is, of what should, of what could be the French spirit. Our strengths, our faults, that poetry, that romanticism, that reflection, those high-level critical spirits that kill or that qualify. The creation of a mental space in a place that replaces decoration; where there’s the mind instead of aesthetics, literature instead of style […]” Ph.S.
And of course Le Royal Monceau Spa by Clarins has been fully integrated in that concept of exploration ; an exploration of a “white paradise” where you feel pampered and where you can find luxury My Blend treatments. We enjoyed there a face and body treatment , the “Art of Touch”, a new re-energising and relaxing experience that relieves men and women from the fatigue and tensions of city life in 3 steps: balancing touch, stimulating touch and enveloping touch. It was very soothing and refreshing – a perfect sensation – and the therapist was a perfect ambassador of both Clarins products and experience ; we were then invited to relax at the pool area which includes a large indoor pool – 28m – and a heated watsu.
Room
We visited a Studio Room – 36sqm – which highlighted perfectly all Le Royal Monceau luxury experience : finest materials and furnitures, TV inside a wall mirror, unbelievable full glass bathroom… The Wow factor takes you even for this first room category, I let you imagine for a Suite or a Junior Suite ! Of course it has a cost – from 750 euros/night – but honestly it will be hard to find such an experience even in Paris, capital of luxury.
Dining
We didn’t had a chance to have lunch or dinner at one of Le Royal Monceau restaurants. However their reputation is very high and I can’t imagine you would be disappointed: both restaurants are one-michelin star awarded and image different atmospheres. La Cuisine is a French restaurant in a trendy Parisian style, with an open-air kitchen and alcoves, while Il Carpaccio offers Italian dishes and draws on a Sicilian baroque style. The saturday brunch and Le Royal sunday brunch take place at La Cuisine and are definitely a must-do ; the Chef Hans Zahner proposes a buffet selection and some a-la-carte dishes as well as plenty of amazing Pierre Hermé desserts.
Level of exigency
The Raffles Paris Royal Monceau represents the quintessence of French luxury and service quality. It’s clearly a place where the attention to details is maximum and the staff does its best to go beyond your expectations ; the few hours we spent there foreshadow a unique and exclusive experience.
Visit on February 3rd, 2014
Le Royal Monceau Spa by Clarins “My Blend” opened in June 2011, spread over 1500sqm and has the largest indoor pool – 28m – among all Parisian luxury hotels. We enjoyed the Art of Touch treatment which costs 190 euros for 1h30 (access to the pool area with a 50 euros supplement).
