Rome Cavalieri, breathtaking property

Rome Cavalieri, breathtaking property

Sometimes I like to book a Ritz-like hotel with a very classical style, top notch property and a VIP service. That’s what I did for our first stay in Roma with the Waldorf Rome Cavalieri, 5-star hotel – I should say “resort” –  on the heights of the city. The experience went far away our expectations and I highly recomment this place for your next stay in this romantic capital !

Of course, location is far from city center and you need to take the complimentary shuttle service that brings you to Via Veneto. But it is peaceful and you can spend some time to relax after a whole day walking to discover the historical center ; the SPA is truly impressive with its outdoor pool and indoor typical Roman baths. If you like sports the huge gym center or tennis courts will make you happy !

Inside, you feel like an Emperor with all the marble, statues and masterpieces everywhere in the building. Style is definitely top notch and exclusive … The Executive Lounge is a good example, with its glassy entrance and 5-star food inside ; that’s simple, I just never enjoyed so good pastries and amuse-bouche in a lounge ! Regarding our room, we chose an Imperial Room with Rome View which has a balcony overlooking the whole city and give access to the lounge.

The Waldorf Cavalieri – formely Rome Cavalieri – re-opened after a renew in 2008 and entered the Hilton hotels family ; it is composed of 370 guest rooms and suites. Be very careful to book a room with Rome views otherwise you will enjoy a big an uggly electric pylon… I booked an Imperial Room with Rome View – 35sqm – at 500 EUR/night.

Wow, take a seat on your balcony and admire the pool, the SPA’s canopy and tennis courts ! You immediately understand you are in a true 5-star property once you enter the lobby: marble, statues… Just perfect to feel as a VIP.

The best SPA ever: an outdoor pool, a huge gym center and some Roman baths with hydromassage, dry and steam rooms in an amazing decor.

Waldorf Rome Cavalieri is more like a resort than a hotel. Indeed gardens are spacious and delimit the whole property in the street, like an exclusive area.

The Imperial Room with Rome View we had at the 7th floor was nice thanks to its size, the view and the balcony. Otherwise the rest of the room can be avoid, especially because of the kitsch decor style. I really don’t like the yellow and blue color combination as well as the white bed. On the contrary the marble bathroom is pretty fine with its premium bath products Acqua Di Parma.

As I said in introduction be careful to book a room with Rome view otherwise you will be very disappointed…

Dining

Rome Cavalieri - Executive lounge

Rome Cavalieri – Executive lounge

Restaurant is very expansive so we tried it only for the inclusive breakfast. Nice location, close to the outdoor swimming pool but unconvenient to come and return to the buffet as there is too many tables in a little space.

But food was good and cookers can prepare anything you want upon request.

Regarding food at Executive Lounge, it was just exceptional ; probably at the same level than the french Le Nôtre with complimentary 5-star pastries, sandwiches and dessert as much as you wish. Of course, Imperial Club access is necessary to enter.

Level of exigency

I highly appreciated the service, especially at Front Desk and room service. During check-in we were greeted in a special desk dedicated to HHonors Diamond members in a special area of the lobby: great VIP feeling ! Then we were accompanied to our room and a short visit of the building until the Executive Lounge. Throughout the stay service quality was at the same level.

My only complain concern our departure, when we were proposed by the concierge a limousine transfer to the airport instead of standard taxi. He told us it would be 50 EUR and when arrived the driver asked us 60 EUR… Which was far much than taxi cost, so I felt a bit betrayed.

Stay from July 10th to 12th 2011
