A world of sophistication at Peninsula Paris

A world of sophistication at Peninsula Paris
Avenue Kleber is one of the most prestigious place in Paris, just few steps from the Champs-Elysées and the Arc de Triomphe, and hosts plenty of five-star hotels ; this is the new decorum of the Peninsula Paris, the hotel brand’s new luxury flasghip which aims to be one of the finest place to stay in Europe. Welcome in a world of opulence and exigency.

The Peninsula Paris opening is one of the biggest 2014 event in the luxury hotel industry in Europe – if not worldwide – so we couldn’t miss it ; we did a press tour accompanied by Anne-Sophie Bonnisseau, Peninsula Paris Director of Communications, to review together all property facilities and learn a bit more about the concept and the atmosphere of that new location. Check out also the gorgeous Peninsula Hong Kong to see how Asia manages its luxury hotels.

Living

Peninsula Paris - Lobby

Peninsula Paris – Lobby

The Peninsula Paris is hosted in a 19th century classic french building with Haussman and neo-classical features where keywords are definitely tradition, opulence and elegance. Tradition first, because of the outstanding renovation of that historical Belle Epoque building, which took 5 years and many millions of €, challenged dozens of high-skilled worker and restorer to take care about the finest ornament parts: wall friezes, sculptures, gildings…

As a result, it makes Peninsula Paris one of the most incredible historical building re-born in the city, together with the Shangri-La. Then opulence, that you can feel easily starting from the impressive lobby where a masterpiece designed by Lasvit represents the symbol of the property, consisting of two unique glass art installations resembling the leaves of a plane tree, common in Parisian streets. These “flying in the wind” leaves gives a serene and peaceful atmosphere to that place and is perfectly combined with the awesome white stones of the walls.

The Spa is also quite an experience – like all Peninsula residences – with a 20-meter indoor pool, full-equipped gym center and offers modern Chinese design lounge and treatment rooms. Finally elegance, because restaurants and lounges will become for sure the fanciest places to be and to be seen in Paris ; top of the top, the incredible rooftop of L’Oiseau Blanc restaurant and its view over the Eiffel Tower and the romantic skyline… Grandiose!

Room

Peninsula Paris - Deluxe room

Peninsula Paris – Deluxe room

We visited a Deluxe Room – 45sqm – which was very large regarding Paris standards, and most of all VERY well furnished. We highly appreciate the huge dressing – with its unique “valet box” for laundry service – and the unbelievable full marble bathroom with free standing bathtube, rainshower and built-in TV. Honestly the Wow factor appears immediately when you see it, it reminded us a bit the one we visited at Le Royal Monceau.

Then it is entirely equipped with domotic systems consisting of touching buttons everywhere in the room to control lights + temperature and a digital tablet on nightstand with homemade application to manage lights, AC, TV, on-demand movies, room service, book spa massage, discover things to do in Paris, etc. For this room category the view is quite basic – over the courtyard – but still pleasant and bright ; do not consider booking there to enjoy a nice view of Paris from your room, it is clearly not the purpose of a stay in this hotel. Turn on TV, enjoy a complimentary Nespresso coffee, eat a sweetie from the free minibar and think about how lucky you are to be there!

Dining

Peninsula Paris - L'Oiseau Blanc restaurant

Peninsula Paris – L’Oiseau Blanc restaurant

Peninsula Paris three main restaurants are really amazing, each of them offering an experience completely chic and unique. The Lobby and La Terrasse Kléber can be considered as a single hipster place, allowing to get some fresh air on the street and eat international food or en-cas in a casual atmosphere, being guarded by the two majestic lions sculpture of the entrance. Then you can discover the excellence of Chinese food at Lily restaurant, where Chef Chi Keung Tang promises to offer unparallel level of fine-dining in the pure Asian style ; finally you take off in the sky at L’Oiseau Blanc – located at the top of the building and fully decorated with aviation furnitures – to savor authentic French cuisine by Chef Sidney Redel whatever inside or outside to benefit a gorgeous Eiffel Tower view.

Level of exigency

During a press visit it can be hard to appraise the service exigency and quality. However we can say that we have been very impressed by the attention to detail shown at the lobby – especially doormen and their uniform – as well as the Spa entrance. Peninsula is famous worldwide for its staff skills and qualifications, we can ensure that staying there will entitle you to feel like a VIP from the second you pass the door. Oh, and if you are looking for a luxury brunch in Paris, think no longer: Le Lobby restaurant at Peninsula Paris.

WOW, just WOW! When I was in Paris late last year, the Peninsula was a mystery , everyone knew it was opening ‘soon’ but didn’t know exactly how grand it will be. I love the flying leaves concept and the ‘white on white’ and white and cream theme its so elegant.
