Among all the cities in expansion, Shanghai is certainly the most unpredictable and when it comes to luxury residences, it’s unbeatable. The recently opened Jing An Shangri-La is no exception and offers the best of that vibrant city.
Jing An district is the place to be in Shanghai for luxury shoppers, mostly on West Nanjing road where all finest brands are located. Settled few steps away – close to Kerry Centre, metro line 2 and Plaza 66 – Jing An Shangri-La offers a serene atmosphere allowing to combine Spa, relaxation, dining and shopping activities. More than just a five-star hotel, it’s a refuge for demanding tourists and businessmen.
Living
Welcomed in the lobby with a huge oil painting by Zeng Fanzhi, guests can enjoy a nice and warm design with traditional Shangri-La tones. Each space in Jing An Shangri-La has its own style and decoration; this is especially true for the Grand Ballroom and the five restaurants, which all propose a different kind of living. Just look at the 1515 West Chophouse and the award-winning Summer Palace! Regarding Spa and pool areas they are more usual but still well furnished and very convenient.
The crystal, symbol of the property, is present everywhere through four million pieces and elevate even more the luxury feeling. Drapery, sculptures, panels, they bring light and confirm the top position of that hotel in the city.
Room
The Grand Premier Room #5333 we had at 53rd floor was just stunning, with great views over the city and large spaces ; actually, this room category is a mix between a suite and room, with its own living-room and a fully furnished reception area. A special mention to the marble heated floor of the bathroom, something rare and very valuable. Entertainment system – TV, sound – is brand new which is quite convenient for guests coming with their own devices to watch movies, like USB drivers.
Dining
We experimented breakfast at Horizon Club, on top of the building with fantastic 360° views over West Shanghai, which was very good with a large choice of both Asian and Western food. The hotel makes its own bread in french style, fresh juices – apple, mango, orange, kiwi, carrot, goya – and an a-la-carte menu for hot dishes achieves that full complimentary selection. Even if we didn’t have the chance to try it, we really recommend to have lunch or dinner at Café Liang where the buffet looked, honestly, AMAZING.
Level of exigency
Passing through the lobby you are supported by a premium team, from doormen to front desk receptionists, who do their best to answer your needs. As well, housekeeping and room-service are very smart, working in a transparent – but efficient – way. Asian quality of service is also present at Horizon Club, with professional staff members who worth the extra paid to be there. In few words, it really deserves the five-stars.
