It’s hard to select a luxury hotel in Singapore, since competition is really huge. I traveled several times there, but one big name was missing on my list… it’s Ritz-Carlton Millenia, Singapore. I took the occasion of an Asia tour in early 2018 – visiting Singapore, Taipei and Hong Kong – to pay a visit in that upscale hotel.
Located along Marina Bay on Raffles Avenue, Ritz-Carlton Singapore is resort-like residence with more than 600 rooms offering a lavish luxury. Together with its prestigious immediate competitor, it’s the place to be seen and dressed up on weekends for a romantic dinner or chilling with friends. Let’s review what makes it different from the others!
Design & Facilities
Ritz-Carlton Singapore is a massive complex proposing not only luxurious accommodation, but also many high-end facilities. I really like the outdoor pool area – completely renovated one year ago with wood and light tones – and Colony restaurant with its fantastic mix of colonial and Art Déco design. Magnifique!
Common areas expose a lot of art pieces, especially at ground floor in the lobby and Chihuly lounge. Still, the overall atmosphere is… busy, because of the number of guests. It’s definitely better to escape and go one floor below around the outdoor pool, or on top floor at Club lounge.
Anyway, for a magical moment of relaxation you can book a Spa treatment at Ritz-Carlton Spa, also recently refurbished. I enjoyed a 60-min Hot Lapis Stone Massage there given by a very skillful therapist; perfect after a hard shopping day :)
Accommodation
The Club Deluxe Marina room I had offered a gorgeous 180° panorama over the harbour and its beautiful landscape. I especially liked the large windows, giving plenty of light throughout the day, and the wooden floor that made me feel like in a luxurious Singaporean apartment. That’s unique!
The interior room design doesn’t follow the arty style of the rest of Ritz-Carlton Singapore, and actually that’s fine to me. It’s cozy, sober, refined and just perfect for a leisure stay.
Obviously, I highly recommend to book a Club room in order to have access to the Club Level and its stunning lounge on top floor, with complimentary drinks and fine snacks all day long.
Dining
I had breakfast at Chihuly Lounge, on ground floor near reception. Very few people contrary to Colony restaurant but of course the selection was also much smaller. Anyway, I had everything to enjoy a good American breakfast.
For dinner, I took the opportunity to order room service and eat it at Club lounge on top floor. The view over the Marina is amazing and complimentary drinks very convenient; if opening hours were extended – it closes at 10pm – it would be wonderful!
Level of exigency
Service quality was a huge surprise for me. When I arrived and looked at that impressive building from outside, I was almost sure it was impossible to receive a personalized and upscale experience because of its size. I was totally wrong, since I had one of the best moments with hospitality staff ever.
Doorwoman Melissa was extremely friendly throughout my stay, Front Desk was super efficient and housekeeping faultless. Top of the top, Club lounge assistants are very proactive and do their best to answer your needs. Such level of exigency is usually the proof that management is good and you are staying in a truly luxurious place.
Conclusion
Despite its jumbo size, Ritz-Carlton Singapore is a temple of luxury where guest is the central point of attention. Service is amazing, entertainment facilities have been renovated recently and location is unbeatable. Just book a room at Club floor and your experience will be greatly enhanced!
