Staying In The Caroline Astor Suite At St Regis Bangkok

A new trip to Bangkok was the occasion for me to discover a new five-star hotel of that wonderful city. The St Regis Bangkok is a discreet but opulent, luxurious place in the capital’s heart where guests are treated like kings. Review.

Directly connected to the BTS Skytrain and situated at walking distance from Central World in Lumphini district, the St Regis Bangkok has a perfect location whatever you stay for leisure or business. It’s a name, a reputation, but not only.

Living

St Regis Bangkok is a urban hotel settled in a modern tower building. There is no outdoor spaces contrary to competitors like The Peninsula or Sukhothai – except the swimming pool at 15th floor – but that’s not an issue. Interior design and perfume makes you feel like in a high-end mansion that you don’t want to leave.

Entrance lobby

I have been particularly amazed by the entrance lobby (at street level) that really has a wow factor. The ELEMIS Spa is not to be missed too, with sauna, hot and cold water basins as well as gorgeous treatment rooms.

Room

I had the chance to stay in a Caroline Astor Suite, a very large accommodation with a beautiful living room, a corner room and – top of the top – an outstanding bathroom with standalone tube. It reminds me a bit the St Regis Shanghai that I visited a while ago. Same interior design, same classical-opulent feeling.

Wherever you are in the suite, you have a full view over the stunning Royal Bangkok Sports Club, an institution in Bangkok. On specific days, you can seat and enjoy horse races! Just ask your private butler for information.

Dining

I only enjoyed breakfast at St Regis Bangkok. The buffet layout is quite astonishing at Viu restaurant, you can actually walk among Chefs and almost cook things yourself! The selection was large and qualitative, but honestly the room was too crowded to be comfortable at peak time – around 9am.

This being said, Jojo and Decanter restaurants are fine dining places – well known in the city – and every evening is a dress contest in the lobby!

Service Quality

There are few hotel chains with a strong reputation of service exigency, and St Regis is definitely one of them. Front desk, concierge, doormen, spa receptionists… They all master the art of hospitality – thanks Marriott training – and make you understand what GUEST means.

The St. Regis Bangkok opened in 2011 and is composed of 229 rooms and suites. I stayed in a Caroline Astor Suite – around 100sqm – which public rate starts at EUR 740/night.
